Fellowship for Evangelising Britain’s Villages
“Taking the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the Villages of Britain”
The Fellowship for Evangelising Britain's Villages is a non-denominational Christian mission to villages and rural communities. We aim to place evangelists and pastors in these areas so that the Gospel of Jesus Christ can be effectively proclaimed, people may come to faith in Him and local churches can be supported and encouraged.
We recognise the Christian witness that many churches already have in the villages, but believe that more can be done to reach rural communities for Christ. There is real need for people to become involved in the task of rural evangelism.
This year FEBV is celebrating its 90th anniversary. We are rejoicing in God’s great faithfulness, for the way He has kept, guided and blessed the work in the villages over the last nine decades.
Call to Prayer: A ‘Call to Prayer’ was launched at the beginning of FEBV’s ninetieth anniversary year.

The Fellowship for Evangelising Britain’s Villages, formerly known as the Friends’ Evangelistic Band was formed in 1919 following the ongoing prayers of a group of Evangelical Friends and the vision of George A. Fox. God revealed to these Friends something of the need of the great number of people who had no knowledge of the Gospel of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, especially those living in villages. God also revealed to them the sufficiency of the Holy Spirit to meet this need through lives dedicated to Him and dependent on Him for His guidance and power. The lack of a ministry which proclaimed a vital Gospel message
and the resulting spiritual darkness in a large number of villages greatly concerned them. As a result, under the guidance of God, a number of men and women from different denominations formed the “Friends Evangelistic Band”. The work began as an Itinerant Ministry and then Centres were opened for more permanent work from which an area of 10-20 miles radius could be systematically visited. As the years passed the title “Friends Evangelistic Band” no longer had the same relevance and in 1970 it was changed to the “Fellowship for Evangelising Britain’s Villages” (FEBV).
